Kristina Aurora - Nu kan jeg flyve

At the entrance hall at Gothenburgs museum of art you can experience an art piece made by the Swedish artist Charlotte Gyllenhammar. The art piece is the first photography of a series that also presents a video work- the series is called ”Fall”.

When I dwell at this photography some keywords comes to mind. Vulnerability, the floating-dreaming sensation, the fall, rawness, chaos, the night, sleep, loneliness. These keywords were the inspiration to my sound piece. Besides these words the title also led my thoughts to the Danish poet Michael Strunge.

At some occasions I find the energy in the poems of Michael Strunge very raw, brutal and concrete and at other occasions so dreamy and mild that you end up feeling seduced. It’s in this contrast that I also find myself working as an artist. And it is in this contrast I also see clear similarities to the artwork ”Fall” of Charlotte Gyllenhammar.

I decided to create a sound piece that should work hand in hand with the reading of a selection of Michael Strunges poems.

In the anthologies of Michael Strunge you will find drawings made by him. I have used these drawings as the foundation for my sound piece by running them through a program that transform pictures into sound. Sound recordings has been added and I have made all these sounds intertwine into the final result.
